Abstract

In the trauma patients thoracic and lumbar fractures occur in 150,000 individuals annually in United States, and account for 30-60% of all spinal injuries Multiple levels injuries of spine are not un common now days specially after increase magnitude of trauma and increase of screening facility on spine and increase suspension of doctors of other lesion . It represents about 10.6 % out of cases admitted annually in AUH The commonest age is between 15 and 40 years old. vertebral fractures increases with age due to osteoporosis and decreasing bone density Careful examination of poly trauma patient specially with neurological deficit for multiple injury of spine as seconded lesion may delay on diagnosis several days the presence of neurological injury in poly traumatized patient should be regarded as highly indicator of possibility of double-level spinal injury Operative management of a multiple thoracolumbar fractures varies according to many factors. Fracture morphology, neurologic status, and surgeon preference Unstable fractures of the thoracolumbar spine often require internal fixation, Stabilization of these injuries has many advantages including early mobilization and the potential for neurologic improvement.
