Abstract
In this study the substantial importance of value - focused ERM to property and casualty insurance companies is emphasized. ERM is intended to replace the traditional risk management techniques as well as making the value of the firm both visible and manageable. An important question we needto answer is; what are the benefits to any firm of applying ERM? A comparison between ERM and the traditional approaches of risk management in chapter 2 of this study, shows the benefits of ERM, and makes it clearer why ERM is becoming a necessity to property and casualty insurance companies.
