Abstract

Bovine Ephemeral fever is a viral disease affecting cattle and buffaloes causing great economic losses due to high morbidity, sharp decrease in milk and meat production, in addition to the disease complication and expensive treatment trials. The disease is caused by povine ephemeral fever virus belongs to family Rhabdoviridae, genus Ephemerovirus. It is mainly transmitted by blood sucking insects. Several disease outbreaks of bovine ephemeral fever have occurred in many regions of Australia, Asia and Africa including Egypt.
The object of this study was to :
. Carry out a comparative study on the effect of vitamin C and E/selenium Supplement on cattle immune response to the inactivated bovine ephemeral fever vaccine.
. Investigate the serological and hematological changes associated with the effect of vitamin C and E/selenium supplement on cattle immune response to the inactivated bovine ephemeral fever vaccine.
The present work was carried out on 40 calves ; they were divided into (8) groups as follows :
 Group 1. : This group includes (5) cattle were inoculated with the local inactivated BEF vaccine only.
 Group 2. : This group includes (5) cattle were inoculated with the local inactivated BEF vaccine and vitamin C.
 Group 3. : This group includes (5) cattle were inoculated with the local inactivated BEF vaccine and vitamin E/selenium.
 Group 4. : This group includes (5) cattle were inoculated with the local inactivated BEF vaccine, vitamin C and vitamin E/selenium.
