Abstract The present study was undertaken to investigate the potential role of some chemical inducers for inducing resistance in squash plants against powdery mildew disease through pot and field experiments. The present work indicated that, the causal agent of squash powdery mildew is Podosphaera xanthii. The results of pot experiment declared that, the most effective chemical inducers for reducing powdery mildew severity were salicylic acid (SA, 1 mM), nitric oxide (NO, 1 mM sodium nitroprusside) and H2O2 (10 mM). Therefore, the field experiment was conducted to examine the effects and mechanisms of these elicitors, singly or in combination, as foliar spray for inducing resistance to P.xanthii with comparison to systemic fungicide ”Penconazole” and distilled water. Compared to control, most treatments significantly. |
