Abstract

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) affects 8 to 10 million people in the United States per year. One subset of PAD is aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD).
The aim of the study is to evaluate the outcome and effectiveness of endovascular management of Aortoiliac Occlusive Disease (AIOD).
Fifty (50) patients with lower limb ischemia will be enrolled into the study.all patients were assessed clinically,by lab tests and radiologically.all patients entered angio cath for endovascular intervention.patients were assessed post procedure for patency, complications, limb salvage and survival.
In our group of patients, immediate procedure-related and early postoperative, non-thrombotic complications were observed in two (4%) of 50 patients. In our group of patients, 30 days mortality was 2 % (one out of 50), another patient died during the follow up period.
In our group of patients, four patients underwent amputation of the target limb (2 AKA and 2 BKA )
Cumulative primary patency rates calculated at follow-up at 1, 3, 6,12 and 24 months in our group were 98%,92% ,88%, 84% and 78% respectively. Secondary patency rate at the 24-month follow-up was 96%.we concluded that endovascular treatment is a very effective tool in treatment of aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD).Our study revealed that endovascular management should not only used in treatment of TASC A and B lesions according to the revised TASC protocol but also type C and D lesions provided that the intervention is performed by an experienced physician.
