Abstract

Bronchial asthma is a chronic disease of respiratory tract constituting a serious public health problem all over the world.
Asthma is estimated to affect 300 million people world-wide, with an expected increase to 400 million worldwide by 2025. In a population of children and adolescents ,bronchial asthma occurs with frequency of 5-10%.
Asthma in Egypt is a common health problem which caused considerable morbidity and appreciable mortality and impose much demand on the time and costs of medical and hospital care. In Cairo 2.2% of diseased children attending the pediatric outpatient clinic (Cairo University Hospital) were found to be complaining from bronchial asthma In Giza, Egypt, the prevalence of asthma was 4.6% among school l0-19 years old .
The prevalence of asthma among Egyptian children aged (3 - 15) years was estimated to be (8.2%). Of major concern is the annual increase in mortality
In children, asthma often presents with additional challenges not all of which are seen in adults, because of the maturing of the respiratory and immune systems, natural history, scarcity of good evidence, difficulty in establishing the diagnosis and delivering medications, and a diverse and frequently unpredictable response to treatment, It is therefore not surprising that several guidelines and/or consensus documents are available to support medical decisions on pediatric asthma. These vary in scope and methodology, local, regional, or international focus, or their exclusivity to pediatric asthma. Although there is no doubt that the use of common systematic approaches for management, such as guidelines or national programs, can considerably improve outcomes, dissemination and implementation of these recommendations are still major challenges. Despite more than a decade of dissemination effort, translating the asthma guidelines into clinical practice has been inadequate, and poor adherence to the guidelines has been documented at the physicians’ level
The Study Objectives are to assess the knowledge, attitude, practice of family physician regarding asthma national and international guidelines.
All family physicians in Al-Montaza and Wassat medical distinct are included total target of study sample is 96 physicians. 82 physicians are participated in our study by Respond rat (85.4%). We divided into two main groups by year of experience, one≤ five years and other ≥5 years.
Results
The present study shows that the years of experience more than five years were more significant among physicians age more than 35 years. Regarding qualification physicians, the years of experience constitute statistically significant different among physician in their frequency of seeing asthma patient
The present study shows statistical significant difference between the two groups of family physicians as regarding their knowledge and practice.
