Abstract

This study was done in the period from August 2008 until December 2013 on a total number of 1946 cattle in 3 Egyptian Governorates “Sharkia and Dakahlia”. The results revealed that LSD affect 500 native cattle and 314 imported cattle. The morbidity was 41.3% and 48.2%. The morbidity in Sharkia was 40.4% and Dakahlia was 47.6%. The morbidity if higher at ages of 6-7 years. Decreased in animals from 1-6 month and 1-2 years. The morbidity is less in animals above 2 years. It was 67.4%, 46.3%, 39.1% and 28.3% respectively. Males are more susceptible than female by morbidity of 49.9% and 39.1% respectively. PCR technique was done for accurate diagnosis of LSD that give 100% of skin samples.
