Abstract

Glyphosate is a non-selective broad spectrum and post-emergence herbicide which is largely used around the world. Although many researches were done on glyphosate, little trials have been conducted aiming to study its harmful effect on the reproductive endpoints. Therefore, the aim of the present work was done to investigate the possible toxic effect of different doses of the herbicide, glyphosate on the reproductive performance of male mice. To this a purpose, mice were divided into four groups (each of 25 mice) according to their approximately equal mean body weight. Three groups of them were administered orally by gavage with 0.4 ml glyphosate at doses of 100, 200, and 500 mg/kg bw/d, 7 days/week for six weeks, following by two weeks (the mating period). The fourth mice group was given orally by gavage 0.4 ml de-ionized water as a vehicle by the same manner as in the treated groups.
