Abstract
The thesis comprises three chapters.The first one concerns with the literature survey on the coordination chemistry of some amino acids especially from the struct- ural chemistry viewpoints. The acid-base properties and the coordinating behaviour of some amino acids containing sulphur (cysteine, cystine and methionine) are the main objectives for the studies in the present thesis The scope of investigation is based on the following Determination of the dissociation constants of the ligands, spectrophotometrically and potentiometrically. Determination of the thermodynamic parameters of disso-ciation of the ligands.Determination of the stability constants of the cobalt,nickel and copper complexes. Studying the effect of some solvents on both the mode of ionization and the electronic spectra of the ligands. 5) The mode of bonding and the stereochemistry of thesynthesized complexes are aimed to be determined.The second chapter is related to the experimental part. The standardization of the instruments used (uv-vis, ir and pH and the preparation of the solutions (ligands, buffer, metal ions and purification of solvents are given).
