Abstract Chemical agents in widespread use, such as insecticides and drugs, cause chromosome damage in various test systems e. g. El Sadek and Amin, with steadily increasing number of chemicals, mutagenicity presents a serious problem for the biology of man. Testing of chemicals for possible mutagenic properties is complicated by numerous problems of biological and technical nature. the test systems most commonly applied are microorganisms, Drosophila, and chromosomes of plant root meristems and of mammalian tissue culture cells; each of which has its specific merits. |
