Abstract With the exception of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, nitrogen is the most prevalent element in the living organisms and is found in such essential compounds as proteinsm nucleic acids, co-enzymes, growth regulators and in many of the vitamins. As a component of these and in many other compounds, nitrogen is involved in most, if not all, of the biochemical reactions that compose life.Although nitrogen composes 80% of the earth’s atmosphere, yet nitrogen in this form is unavailable to most plants. |
