Abstract This descriptive study was conducted to evaluate the type of micro-organisms and predisposing factors that cause toe-web maceration in Egyptian diabetic patients attending Dermatology Department and Diabetology Clinic in primary health care (Al Sabaa Banat) and Dermatology and Diabetology clinics (Suez Canal University Hospital). Fifty patients were enrolled to the study. Patient data recorded include age and sex. A physical examination included weight, height, BMI, blood pressure and toe-web inspection. Informed consent was obtained from all studied patients. The following laboratory investigations were performed FBS, PBS and HbA1C. Bacteriological and mycological cultures were performed. All patients were inspected for signs of vascular, sensory or motor affection. Seven patients show signs of vascular affection and impaired sensory and motor systems. Those patients were further examined by Doppler ultrasound for vascular system of lower limbs, the Doppler examination was normal for all seven patients. |
