Abstract

In this study, there is highly statistical increase in alpha-1 AGP level in patient group at beginning of sepsis and 24 HR after.
In this study, cut off level of α1AGP was 123mg ∕ dl at beginning of sepsis, the sensitivity and specificity were 78,1% , 96,8% respectively, positive and negative predictive value were 96,2% ,81,6% respectively. But after 24 HR, cut off level of α1AGP 126mg ∕ dl, the sensitivity and specificity were 78,1% ,100% respectively, positive and negative predictive value were 100%, 82,1% respectively.
ROC curve analysis shows that α1AGP is better than CRP as an early marker of neonatal sepsis. But its high specificity is accompanied with low sensitivity. So single test of α1AGP is of limited value in the early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.
