Abstract

Medicinal and aromatic plants production has been rapidly increased in recent years and has played an important role in the national income, this study was conducted during two seasons ( 2010/2011 and 2011/2012) to investigate the effect of some microelements ( Iron, manganese the zinc each at 13% EDTA) and various sources of bio-fertilizers (Nitrobein, phosphorein and potassiumage) and their interactions on growth, volatile oil contents and chemical composition of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L. plants. The microelements treatments were; control (without any addition) and Fe at” 50,100 and 150 ppm” Mn and Zn each at ”75, 100 and 125 ppm”. Three kinds of bio-fertilizers Nitrobein 1g/m2, phosphorein 1g/m2 and potassiumage 1g/m2, phosphorein 1g/m2 and potassiumage 1g/m2, phosphorein 1g/m2 and potassiumage 1g/m2. The interactions treatments were ( Fe + Mn + Zn each at 100ppm + Nitrobein 1g/m2), ( Fe + Mn + Zn each at 100ppm+ phosphorein 1g/m2), ( Fe+ Mn + Zn each at 100ppm + potassiumage 1g/ m2) and ( Fe + Mn + Zn each at 100ppm + Nitrobein + phosphorein + potassiumage each at 1g/m2) on growth volatile oil contents and chemical composition of rosemary plants. The results emphasized that spraying with rosemary plants Zn at 100 ppm produced the tallest plants, the greatest number of branches plant, the highest content of carbohydrates, N, P, K, Zn and essential oil in the herb otherwise praying of Mn at 75 ppm produced the heaviest fresh and dry weight of herb. Moreover Mn at 100ppm was increased total leaf content of chlorophyll a and b and carotenoids . Bio-fertilizer Nitrobein was increased all studied parameters of plant height, number of branches/ plant fresh and dry weights per plant and per feddan. Also, the best results of chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids, total carbohydrates, N, P, K, Mn and Zn contents in the leaves and total percentages of essential oil were gained by application of Nitrobein 1g/m2 on compared with phospherein, potassiumage and control treatments. The combination treatment between microelements (Fe+ Mn+ Zn each at 100ppm) + bio-fertilizers (Nitrobein + Phosphorein + Potassiumage each at 1g/m2) was the most preferable treatment among other all studied treatments. The superior interaction treatment maximized plant height, number of branches plant, fresh and dry weights per plant and per feddan, in addition the above mentioned interaction treatment showed superiority in all of chemical traits and increased entages and the main component of essential oil such as α-pinene, Camphene, β–Pinene, Limonene, Cineol 1.8, Linalool, Camphor, α–Terpineol, Borneol, Bornyl acetate, Eugenol and β-Caryophyllene.
