Abstract Female reproductive period is demarcated by two main events; menarche and menopause. Menopause is a definitive marker in women’s reproductive life and it is characterized by the gradual disappearance of estrogen, leading to a wide spectrum of physical and psychological symptoms that disrupt their daily activities as well as coping pattern. Many women approach menopause with uncertainty about what will happen and how to deal with changes that occur. With increasing life expectancy, woman spends almost a third of her life in menopause. Perceived health status is an indicator of general health and quality of life as well as coping pattern that shape women’s health during this period. Therefore, understanding the health issues of postmenopausal women is important especially psychological status which can be lead to a better acceptance and coped well during this natural life transition. |
