Abstract

Childbirth is one of the most marvelous and memorable segment in a woman’s life. Although labor is a normal event and there are times when it may work spontaneously, efficiently and within normal times. Yet other times it may be difficult, with slow in progress, prolonged and dysfunctional. Indeed, monitoring the process of labor is essential to detect deviations from normality, and intervene appropriately, at the proper time, will promote maternal and fetal wellbeing. Induction of labor is indicated when it is agreed that the fetus or mother will benefit from a higher probability of a healthy outcome than if birth is delayed.
