Abstract

Experiments were conducted at Ismailia Governorate to study the Survey of mite species on vegetables growing areas at Ismailia governorate during 2010 and 2011. Among our collected species, two are firstly recorded on plants or in debris. One species to family Cunaxidae: Cunaxa vestus (Den Heyer); and the other one belong to the family Cheyletidae: Cheyletus trouessarti Oudemans.
The population fluctuation of the tetranychid mite Tetranychus cucurbitacearum (Sayed), infesting six eggplant cultivars: (White, Black Stream beity, Baladi, Black king, Roma and Taska at Ismailia governorate, were chosen to study its susceptibility to mite and three insect pests, thrips, Thrips tabaci Lind.; whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius);aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover grown in open field and greenhouse during seasons summer & nili 2012. In addition, the susceptibility of six eggplant cultivars to mite infestation was estimated. Also, biology of Tetranychus cucurbitacearum , and Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor) were studied and efficiency of two control methods (biological and chemical) were studied. The results revealed the following:- Mite populations reached its peak during July in the first and second seasons, respectively, and infestation started on the end of July, then gradually increased to reach its peaks in October in open field &in greenhouse . The highest infestation was recorded on Baladi cultivar and the moderate infestation was recorded on Black Stream beity cultivar, while the lowest infestation was recorded on White cultivar in open field and The highest infestation was recorded on Taska cultivar and the moderate infestation was recorded on Roma cultivar, while the lowest infestation was recorded on Black king cultivar in greenhouse. The piercing sucking insects highest infestation was recorded on Baladi & Black Stream beity cultivars, while the lowest infestation was recorded on White cultivar. in open field and the highest infestation was recorded on Black king, Roma, Taska cultivars for thrips& whitefly, while the lowest infestation was recorded on three cultivar for aphid in greenhouse.
Rearing the mite, Tetranychus cucurbitacearum (Sayed) at two different temperatures: 25 and 35±2ºC and constant RH (70±5%) at laboratory. .An abundance of T. cucurbitacearum was offered daily to the predator as a main source of food, and the maintained at 25±2ºC and 70±5% relative humidity. The life cycle of N. californicus were (7.32, 7.18 &5.75days) for female and (7.08, 5.59 &5.58 days)for male on three eggplant cultivars . The adult longevity of adult female were (30.87,31.95 &30.50) .Also it shortened the period of ovipositor with high reproduction rate of eggs and higher prey consumption rate of 217.33 &110.5 immature of T. cucurbitacearum for adults female and male, respectively. Baladi and Taska cultivars were the most highly significant susceptible to T. cucurbitacearum infestation. Susceptibility of eggplant cultivars to infestation with T. cucurbitacearum may be affected by plant leaf morphological structure; Length, thickness and density of leaf trichomes. Baladi, and Taska cultivars were susceptible to spider mites, showed a decrease in total phenolic compounds in leaves relative to other cultivars .This indicated a positive significant relationships with the population densities.
Two predatory mite species; Tphlodromips swirskii Athias-Henriot and Neoseiulis californicus (McGregor) were used to evaluate their efficiency against the phytophagous mite, Tetranychus cucurbitacearum infesting six eggplant cultivars (White, Black stream beity, Baladi, Black king, Roma and Taska) during the two successive seasons; 2012 summer and nili seasons in open filed and greenhouse at Faculty of Agriculture Farm, Suez Canal University in Ismailia Governorate. , Ismailia. The experiments were conducted to study the effect of one pesticide Abamectin 50% EC as a biocide against the two-spotted spider mite, T. cucurbitacearum infesting six eggplant cultivars during the two successive seasons; 2012 summer and nili seasons in open filed and greenhouse at Faculty of Agriculture Farm, Suez Canal University in Ismailia Governorate. The highly reduction percentage by predatory mite was proved for N. californicus followed by these for the pesticide (Abamectin) and the minimum reduction percentage was given by the predator mite, T. swirskii .
