Abstract

Nanostructuring technology has been proven to create unique physical, chemical, mechanical, and biological properties of various materials, and explores the next generation of micron- scale technologies in the fields of engineering, information technology, environmental science, and medicine.
In this study, six completely edentulous male patients were selected for this study .After construction of conventional complete denture; they received two implants at the mandibular canine area. The patients were classified into two equal groups. Group I: Two acid etched surface treated implant fixture (Ossteotite) were inserted in the canine regions. Group II: Two nano topographic surface treated implant fixture coating (Nanotite) were surgically inserted in the same area. Functional pick up is done, the male housing with black processing male inside it is positioned on top of the fixture at right angle. Removal of soft liner from the fitting surface is done and cleaning the surface is essential. The fitting surface of denture is completely relieved allowing 2mm all around between the metallic male housing and the acrylic resin. Before applications of acrylic resin a small opening about 3 mm is made to act as a vent allowing escapement of excess acrylic. The powder and liquid of autopolymerizing acrylic resin is mixed and applied in the relieved area in the fitting surface. The patient is asked to bite in centric relation until the acrylic set. The denture is removed, finished and polished from excessive acrylic resin .The black processing male is removed and replaced by locator Extra Light Retention Male (blue color). The occlusion is adjusted by using articulating paper. The locator Extra Light Retention Male (blue color) is replaced with locator Light Retention Male (pink color) after 2 month. The locator Light Retention Male (pink color) is replaced with locator final Male (white color) after 2 month. The patients were instructed for proper oral hygiene, including brushing of dentures and the attachment abutments and regular using of mouth rinses. Clinical evaluation was performed using modified plaque index (MPI), Modified Bleeding Index (MBI), Probing Depth (PD) and the implant mobility was assessed using Periotest instrument. Each implant was evaluated at the loading time, one month, 2 months and 3 months after loading. There were stastically insignificant difference between the two groups regarding (MBI) or (MPI) (Chi sq. value 1.120 – p ≤ 0.772) and (Chi sq. value 0.821 - p ≤ 0.845) respectively. Also there was stastically insignificant difference in PD. or periotest readings along all periods of study.
