Abstract Leptin is considered as a potent mark to the fat level in the body. The high use of some antibiotic in treatment can affect the leptin level, the condition which may induce obesity.The present study the effect of both doxorubicin and vancomycin on leptin level in the blood and the protective effect of L-carnitine was studied.This study was carried out on 90 white male rats, obtained from the laboratory Farm, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University, their age and weight at the beginning of the experiment was 6 month old and 120 ± 20 g. The animals randomly classified into:First group: as control group did not receive any treatment.Second group: injected by L-carnitine 200 mg/kg B.wt daily for 2 successive weeks.Third group: intraperitoneally injected by doxorubicin 2.5 mg/kg B.wt once/week for 4 successive weeks and examined 3, 10 and 15 day post administration.Fourth group: intraperitoneally injected by vancomycin 1 mg/kg B.wt/every 12 hours for 7-10 successive days.Fifth group: injected by doxorubicin and L-carnitine with the previous mentioned doses. |
