Abstract Egypt was recently experienced a serious outbreak of FMD which affect all cloven hoofed animals during 2012. The danger of the disease is mainly attributed to the presence of the FMDV in seven distinct serotype and infection with one serotype does not protect against the others. In this study some recent techniques were used for diagnosis of FMD in addition to the traditional techniques that usually used for diagnosis of the disease. Five hundred and seven animals from different localities at Sharkia Governorate were clinically examined for appearance of signs lead to suspect infection with FMD. Clinical signs of FMD were observed in 59.4% of examined animals and 40.6% were found apparently healthy. Depending on clinical examination the animals were divided in two groups. First group included 301 diseased animals that showed typical clinical signs of FMD during examination and second group included 206 apparently healthy animals. The diseased animals showed the characteristic sign of the disease including fever, ropy salivation vesicles and ulceration on the mouth, interdigital space and in many cases the lesion was found on teat. The morbidity rate of the disease was high in some localities as Al- Salhia dairy farm and Menia Al-Kamh farm. Also the two farms |
