Abstract The main function of a rotating shaft is to transmit power from one end of the line to the other. It needs a good support to ensure stability and frictionless rotation. The support for the shaft is known as ”bearing”. The shaft has a ”running fit” in a bearing. Bearings have many types depending on applied load, speed, location ... etc. This research presents types of anti¬friction bearings, and selection of bearing with selection considerations. It discusses bearings characteristics calculations. A case study shows bearings characteristics calculations for two different types of bearings, angular contact ball bearing and tapered roller bearing. |
