Abstract Sixteen root-form endossous implants were installed in the mandibular lower incisor region for sixteen completely edentulous patients. The patients were divided into two groups: Group 1, 10 patient received mandibular overdenture retained by immediately loaded single implant with ball attachment. Group 2, 10 patient received mandibular overdenture retained by delayed loaded single implant with ball attachment. Non of the implants used from both groups failed during the follow up period. Clinical assessment was done after 1 week then after one, three, nine and twelve months following denture delivery. The clinical assessment included scoring gingival index, probing the pocket depth and patient satisfaction. Statistically, there were no significant differences between the two groups regarding most of the readings. Radiographic evaluation was done by long cone paralleling technique to detect marginal bone level changes and bone density changes using diagora software. This was done after one week, six months and twelve months after denture delivery. Statistically, there were no significant differences between the two groups regarding most of readings. |
