Abstract

This work was carried out for detection of some enteropathogenic bacteria as Salmonella, Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Yersinia and Enterococci in broiler carcasses and some poultry products (chickens burger, chicken luncheon, nuggets). Collected from different retail poultry shops and supermarkets and groceries of different localities in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate as well as serotyping of Salmonella and Enteropathogenic E.coli isolated from these examined samples.
These results are summarized in the following points:
1) Isolation of Salmonella:
A total a 7 isolates of Salmonella were recorded from broiler chicken carcasses, chicken burger, chicken luncheon and chicken nuggets with incidences of 64%, 28%, 44% and 8%, respectively.
Serotyping of Salmonella isolates revealed only 7 serovars which could be identified Salmonella Enteritidis O1,9,12, Hg,m:1,7; Salmonella Typhmurium O1,4,5,12, Hi:1,2; Salmonella Virchow O6,7,14, Hr: 1,2; Salmonella Kentucky O8,20, Hi: 26; Salmonella Chester O1,4,5,12, He,h: e, n, x ; Salmonella Anatum O3,10,15,34, He, h: 1,6; Salmonella Muenster O3,10,1,34, Heh: 1.5.
2) Isolation of Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli EEC:
Eight isolates of EEC were isolated from broiler chicken carcasses and chicken burger with incidences of 20% and 12%, respectively, and could not be isolated from chicken luncheon and chicken nuggets.
Serotyping of EEC isolated revealed 6 serovars which could be identified as E. coli O26, O111: H4 (EHEC); E. coli O55: H7, O119: H6 (EPEC); E. coli O128: H2 (ETEC); E. coli O124 (EIEC) respectively.
3) Isolation of Staphylococcus aureus:
The obtained results indicated that Staphylococcus aureus were isolated by 4%, 16% and 12% from broiler chicken carcasses, chicken burger and chicken luncheon, respectively.
4) Isolation of Yersinia:
Yersinia Enterocolitica; Yersinia Intermedia and Yersinia Pestis were isolated from broiler chicken carcasses and chicken burger by incidences of 52% and 16% ,respectively.
5) Isolation of Enterococci:
Enterococci could be detected in broiler chicken carcasses, chicken burger and chicken luncheon samples with 80%, 40%, and 32%, respectively.
• Incidence of Enterococcus Faecalis in broiler chicken carcasses, chicken burger and chicken luncheon were 45%, 40% and 37.5%, respectively.
• Enterococcus Faecium were 25%, 20% and 37.5%, respectively.
• Enterococcus Intermediate were 8%, 10%, and 12.5%, respectively.
• Streptococcal pyogens were 8%, 30% and 12.5%, respectively.
