Abstract This prospective study included 45 patients with infantile hemangioma who presented tour out patient clinic in plastic surgery department, Assiut university hospital, Assiut, Egypt. 15 patients were treated with propranolol therapy, 15 patients were injected intralesion with bleomycin and 15 patients were left for follow up as control. The purpose of this study were to evaluate improvement, complications and parents satisfaction in treating hemangiomas with propranolol therapy and intralesional bleomycin injections, and make comparison between both methods of treatment . In our prospective study about propranolol in treating heamangioma therapy we noticed that: Propranolol gives improvement in size and color of heamangiomas (become brighter). Complications of hemangiomas occur less frequent with propranolol than intralesional bleomycin injections. All complications related to propranolol not significant and reversible with high safety profile. Propranolol gives satisfaction to the parents of the patients more than intralesional bleomycin injection as there is no risk of anesthesia, no intervention, less complications and rapid improvement. |
