Abstract This study was carried out at the Poultry Research Farm, Department of Poultry Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Minufiya University and Shebin – El - Kom. The objective of this investigation was to study the effects of dietary supplementation of copper (Cu) on some productive, reproductive traits, blood components and economical efficiency of Norfa chicken. A total number one hundred and fifty (105 females and 45 males) Norfa chick 21 weeks old were weighed and randomly distributed in to five experimental groups, each group contained 30 birds (21 females and 9 males). Birds in each treatment were reared under similar hygienic and managerial conditions. Birds were housed in individual cages. The birds of each treatment (21 females and 9 males) were taken at random, weighed then divided into equal three replicates (7 females and 3 males). Throughout the experimental period, feed and fresh water were available (ad libitum) all the time. Artificial light was used beside the normal day light to provide 16 hour photo period. Copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSo4, 5H2o) was added in the basal diet to supply 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 mg Cu / kg diet for experimental groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively, and fed to the five experimental groups of chicken from 21 to 40 weeks. |
