Abstract

In this study this study was adopted on 74of the4 dogs and 1256 cats investigate and treat the orthopedic affections of the hind limb in dogs and cats. The orthopedic cases were recorded in 33.2 % of examined dogs and 11.75% of examined cats.
The incidence of fracture cases were the highest (50.6%) in dogs and (69.9) % in cats followed by the joints affections (32.4%) in dogs and (8.2 %) in cats as well as the bone diseases (17%) in dogs and (22%) in cats.
The prevalence of femoral fracture was (56.8%) in dogs and (59.8%) in cats, where the mid shaft fracture in dogs was the highest (45.1%) while supracondylar fracture (57.3%) was the highest among fracture cases which were treated with different methods.
The hip joint was recorded to comprise the highest percent (75%) in dogs, and (50%) in cats among the hind limb joints.
The joint diseases involved sacroiliac joint luxation, Hip dysplasia and luxation, cranial cruciate ligament rupture and patellar luxation. The bone diseases constituted Panostitis and hypertrophic arthropathy, secondary nutritional hyperparathyroidism and a vascular femoral head necrosis in dogs and cats.
