Abstract Neonatal jaundice is the most common medical condition affecting 60% of all full term and 80% of preterm newborn and it requires attention in neonates. The aim of this study to assess nurses’ knowledge versus their performance regarding care of neonates undergoing phototherapy in Port Said The results of this study showed that more than three quarters of the studied nurses (76.1%) had unsatisfactory knowledge had adequate practice. The study recommended the hospital administrative authority should develop up-dated neonatology care policies and procedures for nurses and to be annually reviewed and approved by the quality assurance committee and continuing education programs are recommended to be conducted in work place |
