Abstract A stroke, previously known medically as a Cerebrovascular Accident (CV A), IS the rapidly developing loss of brain function(s) due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. This can be due to ischemia (lack of blood flow) caused by blockage (thrombosis, arterial embolism), or a hemorrhage (leakage of blood).’ As a result, the affected area of the brain is unable to function, leading to inability to move one or more limbs on one side of the body, inability to understand or formulate speech, or an inability to see one side of the visual field. The Aim of the Study is to assess nurses’ performance in providing care to cerebral stroke patients in Port Said hospitals (general and private). To answer the question; what are the most common area of satisfactory and area of negletion in nurses’ performance in providing care to cerebral stroke patients? Sample comprised 60 nurses working in intensive care units and medical wards; (N =6 wards) at Port Said hospitals. 40 nurses from the intensive care units, 20 nurses from the medical wards, at Port Said hospitals. Tools for data collections were structured of questionnaire sheet and observational checklist. Result shows that un satisfactory performance between nurses in Port Said hospitals. The study concluded that all nurses need to improve their performance during care of cerebral stroke patients. The study recommended that they had unsatisfactory theoretical knowledge and should be taught together, to facilitate learning continuous evaluation of nurse’s knowledge and practice is essential to identify nurse’s needs. |
