Abstract This study was designed to evaluate the effect of different surface protections on the marginal adaptation and surface roughness of nano glass-ionomer restorative material. Sixty standardized rounded class V cavities (3mm diameter, 1.5 mm depth and 2mm from the cement-enamel junction) were prepared on the facial and the lingual surfaces of caries free human premolars. Cavities were restored using Ketac N100 nano glass-ionomer restorative material and divided into four main groups according to surface protection used. Group I (control group): no surface protection was used; Group 2: (control group) Vaseline coating surface protection; Group 3: Copal varnish surface protection and Group 4: Ketac Glaze surface protection was used. Each group was further subdivided into three subgroups according to storage period into: 24 hours, three months and six months. Specimens were stored in artificial saliva at 37oC. |
