Abstract Aim : The aim of this study is to assess the level of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 in gingival crevicular fluid of periodontally affected patients before and after treatment. Materials and methods: This study was conducted on 48 egyptian patients with age range from 22 to 43 years and levels of MCP-1 were assessed in gingival crevicular fluid. The patients were divided into three groups. Group 1 represented in controlled subjects of 10 patients, Group 2 represented in chronic periodontitis patients of 19 patients where samples were collected before and after conventional treatment by six weeks, Group 3 represented in aggressive periodontitis patients of 19 patients where samples were collected before and after conventional treatment by six weeks. Conclusion: Highest Level of MCP-1 was observed in aggressive periodontitis group followed by chronic periodontitis group and the lowest level was observed in controlled group. All levels of MCP-1 decrease significantly in aggressive and chronic periodontitis groups after conventional therapy. |
