Abstract Premarital care is now considered a necessity for all couples getting to be married. Its importance comes from its role in early detection of diseases either genetic or sexually transmitted diseases between couples. It helps in decreasing the incidence of these diseases by their transmission to their sexual partners or among their offspring. This relieves the burden on their family and society. The aim of the present work is to improve health of outcome of marriage and health of their families and community by trying to assess the knowledge and attitude towards the premarital care services among Menofia University students. To achieve such aim, a cross-sectional study was conducted on students in Menofia University in Shebin El-Kom city. The study population sampled from unmarried students aged (18-24) years old during the period from first of December 2012 to the end of February 2013. Unmarried students (18- 24) years old in the study were subjected to a pre-designed questionnaire. The study revealed that the knowledge of the studied population was (86.2%). This knowledge didn’t cover all aspects of knowledge including the premarital examination, investigation, immunization and counseling. The main sources of knowledge were friends and media.
