Abstract

1.Studying the antibody titer of horses used for antitetanic serum production for different periods, the results showed higher antibody titer obtained from horses used for 2 years in production followed by 4 years, then 6 years and the lowest titer was obtained from horses used for 10 years in production.
2.Measurement of antibody titer by serum neutralization test and ELISA, revealed that higher antibody titer was detected by ELISA, but there was no significant difference appeared between them.
3.Dealing with the measurement of total serum protein, globulin and albumin revealed that there was high significant increase in total protein for horses used for 2, 4 years and 10 years in production, while there was no changes in total protein for horse used in production for 6 years. For albumin, there was no changes occurred in serum of horses used for 2, 4, 6 years in production while there was significant reduction in serum albumin for horses used for 10 years iri production.
For serum globulin, there was significant increase in serum globulin in horses used for 2, 4 and 10 years in production while in horses used for 6 years serum globulin was within normal level.
4.Investigation of serum enzymes for horses used for antitetanic serum production, revealed that alkaline phosphatase activity has no changes for horses used for 2 years in production, while there was higher increase in horses used for 4, 6 and 10 years in production.
Aspartate aminotransferase activity and alanine aminotransferase investigated for horses showed that there was no changes in enzyme activity for horses used for 2 and 4 years in production, while there was significant increase in enzyme activity for horses used for 6 and 10 years in production.
Determination of gamma glutamyl transferase activity revealed that there was no changes in serum enzyme activity in horses used for 2 years in antitetanic serum production while in horses used for 4, 6 and 10 years in antitetanic serum production there was significant increase in serum enzyme activity.
5.Evaluation of serum bilirubin, total, direct and indirect bilirubin, and glucose level revealed that there were no changes obtained in horses used for all different periods in antitetanic serum production.
6.Dealing with determination of total leukocyte count for horses used in antitetanic serum production, the results revealed that there was no changes in total leukocyte count for groups used for 2, 4 and 6 years in production of antitetanic serum, while there was depletion in total leukocyte count in horses used for 10 years in antitetanic serum production. Also, for differential leukocyte count the results revealed that there was no significant difference for lymphocyte and neutrophil for horses used in 2, 4, 6 years in antitetanic serum production, while there was significant reduction in lymphocyte in horses used for 10 years in antitetanic serum production.
Evaluation of erythrocyte count for horses, revealed that there was significant decrease in erythrocyte count in horses used for 2 and 10 years in production of antitetanic serum, while there was no changes in erythrocyte count for horses used for 4 and 6 years in antitetanic serum production.
