Abstract For both the physician and the patient, the diagnosis and management of chronic sinonasal disease is frustrating and challenging. The rigid transnasal endoscopes with their varying angles of vision, have allowed the otolaryngologist to illuminate, examine and operate in the recesses of the nose and sinuses. Nasal endoscopes provide an easy, inexpensive, comfortable and rapid evaluation of the nasal vault. The introduction of high resolution computerized tomography is a significant advance not only in the diagnostic but also in therapeutic technique of chronic sinusitis and sinonasal polyposis. CT has the advantage of showing both bone destruction and soft tissue extent of disease. It has also extended the Possibilities of differential diagnosis in the nose and paranasal sinuses. CT, Although this is a quite accurate, is expensive not readily available for office screening, time consuming with relative high exposure dose. The aim of our work is to emphasize the indication of CT in chronic sinusitis and sinonasal polyposis. |
