Abstract A study on brucellosis in animals slaughtered in Upper Egypt was undertaken. A total number of 3134 cattle, buffaloes, camels and sheep blood sera samples were subjected to the serological examination by use the Rose Bengal plate test. The Rose Bengal test and the tube agglutination test gave similar results as follows: In cattle carcases, out of 1285 samples, 41 samples (3.18%) were positive with a titre ranged from 1/40 to 1/320 In buffaloes carcases, out of 1430 samples, 7 samples (0.48%) were positive with a titre ranged from 1/40 to 1/160. In camels carcases, out of 51 samples, 4 samples (7.86%) were pO$itive with a titre range from 1/40 to 1/160. In sheep carcases, brucellosis failed to be detected. The Rose Bengal test can be recommended as a prelimanary test tor detection of Brucella positive animals intended for slaughter. from the obtained results in this study, it is recommended that the blood sample must be taken from every animals admitted in the slaughter house quarantine. ~h .•• T The samples are to be tested against brucellosis by the use of the Rose Benga as a preliminary and practical test. |
