Abstract Previous studies report antenatal betamethasone is effective in reducing admission respiratory distress after elective caesarean section at term. Aim of the work: is to assess the effect of prophylactic corticosteroid administration before elective caesarean section at term. Methodology: 2 groups; (Group A) 300 patients who will receive prophylactic cortecosteroid and (Groups B) 300 patients who won’t receive steroids. Results: There is a highly significant difference between both groups as regard transient tachypnea of newborn. Conclusion: Antenatal Corticosteroids are effective in prevention of respiratory complications after elective caesarean section at term. |
