Abstract

This report deal with doubly-fed induction generator based wind power generation system as a renewable energy, as we see nowadays there is more shortage in energy all over the world and all look forward to renewable energy which is cleaner than traditional!ypes of energy sources. The renewable energy sources have more attention like solar energy and wind energy which is a free, clean, and inexhaustible energy source, here we will deal with wind energy turbine component and its parameters for each component element, power regulation, and speed regulation technique in wind power system and get focus on the generator set in the wind energy turbine. Then we will discuss the most famous types of generators which are synchronous and induction types, its equivalent circuits, principle of operation, configuration, characteristics and excitation system.Then we will deal with the most applicable types for generators used in wind energy system so if it was related to synchronous generator or induction generator and the advantage and disadvantage for each type. And then deal with other types of generator techniques used for wind power generator systems.Then we will focus on the core of the report which is the doubly -fed induction generator in wind power system which become the most applicable generator in power system and in details will discuss its principle of operation, how to get fixed frequency and fixed voltage with variable speed from wind turbine, efficiency, equivalent circuit for the DFIG, active and reactive power control and capability.Final there is an experimental result of DFIG wind power system and simulation model on Matlab application of DFIG wind power system and attached its output results.
