Abstract The present thesis deals with the neutron flux and spectrum measurements performed at the Cairo Fourier Diffractometer Facility (CFDF); installed at the ET-RR-1 Reactor. The CFDF applies two neutron guides for transmitting the neutron beam from the reactor to the sample position. The measurements were carried out at the exit of the straight neutron guide of the CFDF using 3He and BF3 detectors. The detectors were calibrated using the neutron activation method applying 252Cf neutron source and gold foils, Pu-Be neutron source and indium foils. The neutron flux, at different positions of the neutron guide, was measured using both the calibrated 3He and BF3 detectors; as well as by applying the gold foil activation method. The integral neutron flux was calculated from the neutron spectrum (measured using a Fermi disk type chopper and 6Li-glass (NE-912 type) scintillation detector), installed at a distance of 3.45 m. |
