Abstract

The optical wireless technology is used mostly in wide bandwidth data transmission applications. The maximum transmission distance and data transmission bit rates that can be achieved within digital wireless optical links for local and wide areas optical network applications are to be investigated. The present thesis focuses on the deep parametrical studies of the following topics in the optical wireless communication systems:1. The effects of the bad weather on the transmission and performance efficiency of optical wireless communication systems.2. Underwater optical wireless communication system. In the present study:i. We have investigated the transmission performance analysis of digital wire and wireless optical links in local and optical wide area networks over wide range of the affecting parameters. Moreover, we have analyzed parametrically and numerically the maximum transmission distance and transmission bit rates that can be achieved within digital wire and wireless optical links for optical networks. The basic advantage of optical wireless communication over conventional wireless communication technologies is its broadband spectrum which fulfill the requirements for high speed wireless communication. Wireless optical communication system has received a great deal of attention lately both in the military and civilian information society due to its potentially high capacity, rapid deployment, portability and high security. Therefore we have employed high bit rate capacity technique, namely, modified Shannon transmission technique over wide range of the affecting parameters for increasing signal to noise ratio (S/N) and decreasing bit error rate and then to increase the transmission bit rates over wireless optical communication systems. we have investigated ultra high transmission capacity of optical wireless communication.
