Abstract

Experiments were carried out at the Rabbitary Farm of Poultry Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Kafr EI- Sheikh University, during the period. from September 2009 to May 2010. Twenty seven NZW rabbits does and 9 rabbit bucks (3: 1) of 5 month of age with an average body weight of 3.575 kg, were used. Animal were used to evaluate to which extent linseed oil, as a source of n-3 poly unsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUF A), can replace vegetable oil in pregnant and lactating doe diets to produce rabbits with n-3 enriched meat. br three groups of 9 does plus 3 bucks each. Does were fed diets containing 0% oil (C), 3% vegetable oil (VO) and 3% linseed oil (LO), all diets supplemented with 100 ppm vitamin E as an antioxidant. Experiments lasted for 9 months. Parameters studied included growth performance of does and litters during pregnancy andlactation periods, digestibility, caecotrophy, carcass traits,composition and yield of milk, semen quality, some blood constituents and relative revenue.
