Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted on roselle plants during two successive seasons of (2009 and 2010) at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Minoufiya University, Shibin El-Kom, Egypt. The main objective of these experiments was to evaluate the effect of some biofertilization i.e. Microbein, Phosphorein and Halex2 and their combination with chemical fertilizers at the levels of (0, 25, 50 and 100%) on the growth characters, yield component and chemical constituents of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. plant. The two experimental were planted in a factorial complete randomized block design with three replicates. The main results from this work could be summarized as follows: A- Effect of biofertilization: - Inoculation roselle seeds with different biofertilizers significantly resulted in more number of branches per plant, thickest stem diameter and total herb as well as the heaviest fresh and dry weights of leaves in comparison to uninoculated seeds during the two experimental seasons. The best results in this concern were obtained by inoculation roselle seeds with Microbein. - The highest fruit yield and the heaviest fresh and dry weights of sepals per plant were significantly improved by the application of the different biofertilizers compared to untreated seeds during the seasons of 2009 and 2010. Otherwise, the highest parameters in this respect were obtained by Microbein. - The seed yield per plant as well as per feddan was increased by using different biofertilizers as compared to the control. The highest seed yield per plant and per feddan was obtained by Microbein.
