Abstract

Brucellosis has a wide spread distribution ,but the prevalence varies between developed and developing countries, an estimated 500,000 human infections per year still occur worldwide.
To define the epidemiological character of a disease, one needs a diagnostic test that is inexpensive, reliable and readily available across a broad spectrum of population .
The development of new non-invasive reliable serological tests has openend the door for epidemiological exploration.
The study aimed to evaluate the significance of tube agglutination test in the diagnosis of brucellosis in children in Monoufia Governorate.
Seventy febrile children attending Fever hospitals were included in our study, were assayed for tube agglutination test and proved by blood culture and studied for the effect of age, sex relation to the known diagnostic symptoms and sign and other risk factors who influencing the prevalence of infection .
Their ages were 18 year .Blood samples were withdrawn and assayed for the organism .
It was observed that the overall positive cases of tube agglutination test were 50/70 , by culture 40/70 cases were positive for Brucella. In trial to study the titer by which we can diagnose brucellosis in endemic Menoufia Governorate and real symptoms and signs for diagnosis and treatment, we found a highly significant difference between positive cases and negative cases in signs as Tender abdomen and Toxic Look.
