Abstract This thesis deals with the synthesis and spectral studies of some dihydrazides and their metal complexes with copper (ll) salts. It includes three chapters: Chapter (I) : (Introduction) covers the literature up to date for dihydrazides ~ this chapter divided into three parts. The first part includes the biological effect and industrial aspects of hydra zones and hydrazides. The second part covers some reactions of carbonyl compounds with hydrazine. The third part deals with the chemistry of hydrazides and their metal complexes. Chapter (11): (Experimental) includes the materials and reagents, and methods of synthesis of the dihydrazides and their copper (ll) complexes, the different techniques and instruments used to characterize and to study the chemical and the physical properties of the isolated compounds, such as~ IR, IH-NMR and UV -visible spectra. Chapter (Ill) : (Results and discussion) includes a discussion of the obtained results. This chapter is divided into three parts. In the first part’, two series of dihydrazides are prepared from the reaction of benzoic hydrazide and/or p-substituted derivatives (P-CH3, P-OCH3, p-CI, p-Br and p-N02), respectively, with 4-chlorocarbonyl phenoxy acetyl chloride and hydroquinone-I,4-diacetyl chloride. |
