Abstract
Two field experiments were conducted at the experimental farm of the faculty of agriculture at El-Minia to study the effect of different nitrogen fertilizer levels ,plant populations and harvest dates on the plant characters and yield and its compoents of double cross hybrid 186 during the two summer seasons of 1977 and 1978.
Each experiment included 36 treatments which were the combinations of four nitrogen fertilizer levels,0 , 40, 80 and 120 kilograms per feddan, three plant populations of 35000 , 23275 and 17500 plant per feddan and three harvest dates, namely 90 , 100 and 110 days from sowing.
The planting dates was 1th may for both seasons.
The treatments were arranged in a split-split plot desige with four replications.the main plots were randomly assigned to four levels of nitrogen fertilizer 0 ,40 ,80 and 120 kilogram N per feddan in the form of Nitro Kima(31% N).
