The extension service began agricultural, and then expanded with social transformation to cover other areas, these areas include: the development of youth and boys and girls through what was agreed to be called ”boys and girls clubs 4-H” and leadership development, natural resources, and family and consumer sciences, and economic development of the community.
The extension service uses, many educational extension methods, including extension publications, which include extension pamphlets. The main advantages of extension publications are: lower costs, and the selection of targets for the exposure time and its frequency and access to the target in their places of residence.
The current study deals with a pamphlet has been prepared for pupils in basic education, a category not yet targeted at the local level, and perhaps the study would be the beginning of interest in this category.
The study aims to achieve the following objectives:
1-Identifying the degree of realizing of the studied pamphlet the required traits from respondents and experts point of view.
2-Determining the degree of reaching of the message contained in the studied pamphlet for the targeted pupils.
3-Identifying the required traits of extension pamphlets target basic education pupils.
The study has been conducted at one village in Dakalia governorate ”Awish Elhagar”, in line with the title of the study, and also because the spread of liver diseases at this village, the topic which the studied pamphlet deal with .The universe of the study was 455 pupils, A sample of 150and 31 experts of them were selected randomly and 31 experts of faculty members to represent the study respondents .Data were collected during December 2012 and January 2013.
The field study data collection have been through two questionnaires ,the first for pupils through personal interviews and the second for experts .The experts form has been distributed and collected after they respond to its questions .A pre and post tests about pupils information related to the pamphlet topic were applied.
With regard to the tools of statistical analysis, the study used frequencies, percentage, and relative weights, the critical ratio test, and ”t” test, and ”f” test and L.S.D method, through using SPSS v.19 program.
The most important results of the study came as follows:
First: The degree of realizing the studied pamphlet the required traits:-
A-The pupil’s views:
1-The content traits realize relative weights minimum 39.33% and a maximum of 95.33%.
2-The organizing traits realize relative weights minimum 86.0% and a maximum of 93.3%
3-The pictures and drawings traits realize relative weights minimum 86.66% .
4-Credibility traits realize 76 .0% .
5-Motivation traits realize 67 .33% .
B-The expert’s views:
1-Content: minimum 55 .91% and maximum 87.09% .
2-Motivation: minimum 53 .76% and maximum 78.49%.
3-Approporiatness of educational level of targeted: minimum 44.08% and maximum 72 .04% .
4- Organizing, cover and typography: minimum 56.98% and maximum 80.64%.
5-Pictures and drawings: minimum 56.98% and maximum 79.5 % .
6-Credibility: minimum 55. 91% and maximum 89. 24 % .
Second: The reaching of studied pamphlet message for the targets:-
1-There are significant differences at level of 0. 01 between percentages of pupils respondents obtaining the highest category of scores related to information included in the studied pamphlet in pre and post tests.
2-There are significant differences at level of 0. 01 between the mean scores of respondents pupils in pre and post tests with regard to the information and behaviors included in the studied pamphlet.
These results confirm the impact of the pamphlet on the respondent pupils.
Third: Traits and procedures necessary to reach the educational message of the pamphlet to pupils targeted:-
According to the study results, these traits can be order as follows:
A-The pupil’s views:
1- Pictures and drawings. 2- Organizing.
3- Credibility. 4- Content
5- Motivation.
B-The expert’s views:
1- Content 2- Credibility.
3- Organizing and typography. 4- Motivation
5- Pictures and drawings.
6- Appropriateness to the educational level of the targeted.
C- Pamphlet distributing patterns and its impact of reaching message to targeted category:
The results pointed that there are no differences between the studied patterns of pamphlet distributing, these patterns were: ”distributing pamphlet for pupils to read in the presence of the researcher or change agent”, ”explaining the pamphlet for pupils by the researcher”, and ” leaving the pamphlet with pupils for two weeks to read it”
Based on the findings, the study can recommend with the following:-
1-The results explained in chapter four supporting the use of educational extension pamphlets as an educational method for basic education pupils.
2-Depending on the responses of the targeted pupils it must be relying on pictures and drawings to support and enrich text in transforming educational messages to the basic education pupils.
3-The study recommend for spreading the culture of using educational pamphlets with the studied category, and involve samples of them in the selection of the pamphlets topics, and in pamphlets drafts trials.
