Homeschooling is a reflection of the development of cultural, economic, and political event in the last quarter of the last century, and it is a teaching models that grow rapidly in these days. In despite of the community’s appreciation for public education but it does not serve all service applicants.
The majority of the public believes that the people have the legal right to teach their children at home , and the most important reasons for their choice of homeschooling either educational reasons , or social reasons, or religious reasons, or for family reasons, or for security reasons and there does not trust in schools knowledge and education which furnish to their children , and others are afraid from their children’s exposure to drugs, widespread sexual harassment in schools these days and finally the lack of attention to people with special needs.
Homeschooling , the best solution to agreement between ” school early advocates ” and” children stay with families” advocates , because family help their children to more psychological stability and self-them, Today homeschooling proved that it is a popular educational movement in the world, in the United States there are about one million seven hundred thousand students studying at home and the number continues to increase and around the world tens of thousands of students studying at home.
If today we were looking for realization principle of education freedom , and the access facilitates of human knowledge and science without constraints connect with places, time and age , beside to the family role strengthening and its contribution to construction the citizen , also establish the principle of self-reliance and distance education , and provide learning opportunities for disabilities people to enable them catching up with their peers , and to contribute the literacy and reduction it , and to reduce the cost of basic education ,and to provide an opportunity for residents in remote areas and residents outside the provinces to learn their children, so it is the time to search for new approaches to tackle intractable problems in the Egyptian education and especially the problem of private tuition and funding, and these approaches taking homeschooling approach because it is one of the most important formulas to contribute and propose solutions to that kind of problems.
Based on the foregoing, The study identified the problem in the next major question:
to what extent can the homeschooling contribute to solve some problems of Egyptian education ?
This question is subdivided following questions:
1. What is the educational philosophy of homeschooling ?
2. What is the rationale reasons behind choosing homeschooling within the community?
3. What’s the most important contemporary experiences of world in the field of homeschooling?
4. What is the problems that inhibit the homeschooling contribution to solve some of Egyptian education problems?
5. What are the most important needing requirements that help homeschooling contribution to solve some of Egyptian education problems?
Objectives of the study:
The objectives of this research is to identify:
1. The educational philosophy of home education.
2. To detect the reasons behind choosing of homeschooling within the community.
3. Showing the most important contemporary experiences in the world in the field of homeschooling.
4. To identify the most important problems that inhibit the homeschooling contribution to solve some of Egyptian education problems.
5. Showing are the most important needing requirements that help homeschooling contribution to solve some of Egyptian education problems
The importance of the study:
On the other hand the study contributing to show the reality philosophy of homeschooling in some countries around the world beside to focus on The Egyptian side and The Egyptian position from that global trend Some of the most important sectors benefiting from the search results:
1. organizers of the educational policy and educational decision-makers.
2. The Society represented in the Egyptian family who owned the decision-maker and to direct their children to suitable alternative education
3. The school community, including students, teachers and school administrators.
Method to the study:
This research depends on the descriptive method to identify the limits of the expected homeschooling contribution to solve some of Egyptian education problems
The results of the study:
1. The main reasons for homeschooling choosing :School programs do not care for individual differences and the needing of each student, the spread of cheating cases in exams, and weak sense of scientific fun during study courses.
2. The most important goals of homeschooling, provide learning opportunities for disabilities people to enable them catching up with their peers and to contribute the literacy and reduction it , and to reduce the cost of basic education ,and to provide an opportunity for residents in remote areas and residents outside the provinces to learn their children.
3. The .Respondents believed that the best supervisor of the educational process must be teacher.
4. one of most important homeschooling positives is : children be in a safe environment, as well as the flexibility of the study, and effectively contribute child’s valuable personality building and instill good morals and religious values and desired behaviors within the child.
5. One of family constraints which prevent the application of homeschooling , the lack of children commitment to the time of the study inside the house, and the variability of parents working conditions ,and the variability of the scientific qualified and cultural of the parents inside the family.
6. the educational obstacles that hinder the success of homeschooling within the community to, the illiteracy spread in the community, and the lack of specialized electronic books in the curriculum and teaching methods and education arts .
7. Homeschooling can face the problem of private tuition because it can reduce the work under pressure because of the congestion of the classrooms and a lack of resources. And then allow time for the teacher to explain and follow-up. Homeschooling also eliminates multiple periods of study in many schools and then prevents dependence on lessons to compensate for the lack of understanding lessons.
8. Homeschooling can face the problem of education funding where it does not need to provide seats and educational devices extensively as the case in school and can help to reduce the print textbooks expenditures and therefore it will increase students share of Egyptian education budget allocated to it.
The recommendations of the study:
1. the needing to check international experiences in education field and documenting everything what can be useful for our educational reality.
2. the needing to translate research to help foreign language not speakers to be benefit for them.
3. Encouragement to engage in the research topics that require access to foreign references to enrich the educational researcher with scientific references , so not able to comply with limited references and effective addition to educational research. library .
4. start literacy for about 17 million Egyptians according to the latest statistics of those who do not know how to read and write
5. work hard to convert Egyptian teacher who look like a carrier of knowledge and simplified information which in the curriculum to be a creative teacher and thinker and a science student not sufficient about what he know.
6. Create a security plan to face any problems can be occur in the future because of spread of epidemics and infectious diseases or security looses so no chance to hamper the study
7. The needing to separate between what is intended for workers’ wages and salaries and what is intended to spending on schools and students and the advancement of the educational process.
8. develop the educational channels and work on spreading their own propaganda to induce viewed it as a source of knowledge and access to information.
9. the needing for a curriculum for students of various ages supervised by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in faculties of education and development educational section of the literature to author of curriculum which suit the preferences and abilities of each student and takes into his health position
10. the needing to establish homeschooling umbrellas as a follow branch to community service center in the faculties of education.
