Abstract

The importance assigned to cerebral palsy is attributed to its severity, its burden on children, their family and societies and its high frequency as a cause of severe activity limitation in children.
We conducted a case control study of CP children attending the outpatient clinic of pediatric department Menofia University hospital. This study included 103 of CP patients and 123 of control patients attending the outpatient clinic of Menofia university hospital over one year from the first of January 2012 to the first of January 2013.
We studied CP regarding its prevalence, most prevalent subtypes, the commonest etiologies and risk factors, the most associated impairment, their severity and assessment of the follow up and rehabilitation plans offered to these children. A convenience sample of 29 caregivers of children with CP who attended the out patients clinic of pediatric department of Menofia university hospital and fulfilled the inclusion criteria were the participants in the questionnaire. The participants were classified according to the severity of CP to three groups (mil, moderate and severe CP). The questionnaire includes four major domains in the form of (motor domain), (pain and emotion), (participation and interaction) and (expectation and satisfaction)The children that attended the outpatient clinic of pediatric department of Menofia university hospital during the duration of the study were (5338)child the range of their age was (6months-12 years), males were (48.2%) and female were (51.8%), the prevalence of CP patient among them was (1.9%).
Demographic data of CP patients showed a male predominance (66%)
among CP patients. Their age ranged from 6 month to 12 years with a mean.
