Abstract
Thalassaemia is the most common single-gene disorder in the world &
Egypt .In this study 40 parents of β-thalassaemia patients were divided
into 2 groups. The 1st was given a conventional counseling session while
the 2nd received video counseling .Both groups answered a pre & post
counseling questionnaire about the disease. Significant improvement of
parents’ information after both methods, no significant difference
between both groups except for those concerning the probability of
having affected children. Differences in sex, education & residence didn’t
affect the outcome of video counseling sessions suggesting it’s
applicability especially on lack of professional counselors
