Abstract

Prevention of psychotic relapse is given high priority in the treatment programs for patients with schizophrenia. There has been a growing emphasis on preventing psychotic relapse by recognizing the warning symptoms signaling the onset of psychosis at the early stage .The ability tb detect these symptoms is important as it offers the opportunity of early drug intervention to arrest relapse and avert the need for re-hospitalization. There is mounting evidence that individuals with schizophrenia have the ability to recognize personal symptoms or changes associated with their relapse and also use various mechanisms in an attempt to manage their symptoms (12), The present study aimed to determine the ability of schizophrenic patients to identify early symptoms of relapse and find out their action when these symptoms present. It also aimed at determining the effect of intervention plan on patients’ identification of early of their symptoms.
