Abstract

At present, phacoemulsification is considered the ideal technique for the management of visually significant cataract. The important goals in modern cataract surgery are an astigmatic-free - small incision with a shorter rehabilitation period, CCC, phacoemulsification, and in the bag placement of a pc IOL. Although this technique is considered safe for immature cataract there are few reports of the results of phacoemulsification of white cataracts.
This study aimed at evaluating the visual results and complications of phacoemulsification in eyes with white cataract. This study comprised 30 consecutive patients with white cataract: 20 mature (66.7%), 8 intumescent(26.7%), and 2 hypermature(6.7%). Patients had phacoemulsification and continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis. After the nucleus was removed by the divide and conquer or the stop and chop technique, a posterior chamber intraocular lens was implanted.
