Abstract
The theory of elasticity, in its broad aspects, deals with a study of the behaviorOf those substances that possess the property of recovering their size and shape whenThe forces producing deformations are removed. The elastic property of a material isCharacterized mathematically by certain functional relationships connecting forces andDeformations. Among such relationships, a linear law stemming from a generalization ofHooke’s law states in effect, that the extensions of spring like bodies, produced by theTensile forces are proportional to the forces [62].
